9/4/2018 0 Comments Before ARRIVING in MontrealTo prepare to live in Canada, I spent months shopping for winter boots and sweaters. I took classes in France to aide my acquisition of the French language and I worked all summer to pay for my studies. However, I did not prepare for the feeling of utter loneliness that fell upon me as my parents drove me to Montreal. The realization that I would have to survive and succeed in a foreign country on my own hit me like a ton of bricks. As I rode into the country, it started to rain, which was an ironic comparison to how I was feeling. On one end, I was mourning the life and experiences that I was missing out on at my home university in South Carolina. However, another part of me was excited for what this new city and culture had to offer. I was and continue to be excited for what this International Student Exchange has in store for me.
