11/10/2018 0 Comments the old city perspectiveThe Old City of Montreal
There is a small part of Montreal that is full of original buildings from when Montreal was first established. Those buildings and river ports are no longer used for their original purpose, but instead as a tourist attraction. There are little shops and quiet places to sit and reflect. It feels like another place entirely. The hustle and bustle of city life can be seen in the distance, like this picture shows, but it is more far off. Visiting the old port and village of Montreal this week was a nice break from my normal routine. Sometimes it is necessary to take a step back from our daily lives to reflect. I needed that new perspective this week to remember why I chose to come here and that I should try to soak up as much culture and experiences as possible here. 10/21/2018 0 Comments Family visit
10/2/2018 0 Comments I got a job!I got a job at Tim Horton's in Montreal, Canada. Tim Horton's is basically the Canadian version of Dunkin' Donuts, and it offers so many different options for coffee and food. The best part is that I get free coffee and merchandise. I wanted to find a job here in Canada because it helps to give my life purpose and allows me to have a little extra spending cash. I have a lot of free time here, when I'm not in class, and having a job helps fill the in some of the gaps. I've learned better teamwork and communication skills, and since I have to speak, talk, and read in French while I work, it is a great opportunity for me to practice my language skills. Also as a bonus, I can make a large iced coffee in 26 seconds.
9/23/2018 0 Comments Settling in to the cityI went exploring this past week throughout the city of Montreal to expand my horizons and check out fun things to do in the city. I learned there is an underground mall that is perfect for shopping and relieving stress. As well as a huge contemporary art museum that is free to students! I will try to walk around the city as much as possible within the next few weeks, because soon the weather will turn very cold.
